Melasma is a common skin disorder seen especially in women. In pregnant women melasma is often referred to as the “pregnancy mask.”

Melasma manifests as dark facial skin areas with irregular borders. Melasma presents on the cheeks, lips, nose or forehead. Skin discoloration can also occur on the upper arms.
