BIKINI GROOMING

bikini !

Our clients often ask about the hair down there!

As trends change, we’ve found our clients are puzzled.

  • Is this for me?
  • What on earth is _____?
  • And the popular:  You mean I’m not the only one with hair there?

Since we are your skin care and laser hair removal gurus,
we feel it is our duty to dismiss the myths,
tell you about the latest trends,
and keep you and your bikini line ready for success.

(First in a series of articles!!!)

THE BRAZILIAN BIKINI DEFINED

There are actually different styles of bikini hair removal.

  1. The Basic or Traditional Bikini:
hair is removed from outside the panty line.
  2. The Extended Bikini: like the traditional bikini,
everything outside the panty PLUS some additional shaping underneath.
We will also do some grooming closer to the labia
and the small area we refer to as the “booty cleavage.”
  3. The Brazilian Bikini: leaves a vertical strip in front
(landing strip) 2-3 fingers in width just above the
vaginal area.  Hair is not removed from the labia.
Hair is removed from the tush.  Hair may be removed
from the buttocks (peri-anal) area.  Most importantly,
hair is removed from your derriere,
    allowing those Brazilian bottoms
    we are all jealous of
to shine in their full glory.
  4. The Playboy Bikini Wax  (The American Brazilian):
all hair is removed from the labia, all hair is removed from the tush
(including the peri-anal area, and only a very narrow strip is left in the front.
  5. The Sphinx (Full Bikini Wax):  ALL GONE. Everywhere.Everything.  Bald.

No more mystery!  (In definition, or otherwise.)

Frankly, Ageless Elaine had trouble saying “bikini area” 4 years ago when we started Ageless Remedies SouthPark.
Thus, this valuable information was contributed by one of our talented and experienced medical aestheticians.

Let the hair removal begin…

Elaine asks:

  • Do you have any questions???
  • Which style do you prefer, and why?

Really, ladies, let’s talk about this.  Help me understand!
We’ll keep you anonymous, but inquiring minds want to know!

$745

Even I was shocked at this price.  (Medical grade skin care is not inexpensive.  But you do get real results.)
And thank you Heather, one of our awesome aestheticians, for showing me this.

From the CocoPerez newsletter:

  • ***The ingredients in this “miracle” skin cream like petrolatum, glycerine, and eucalyptus leaf oil, are available to the public very inexpensively at local beauty supply stores or online.  Some are more difficult to find but still available for purchase to the public.
  • ***Experienced cosmetic chemist Will Buchanan says: “This is a variation on a basic water-in-oil formula.”
  • ***THIS PRODUCT WAS DEVELOPED IN THE 70’s.

Creme de la Mer is made by Estee Lauder.  Paula Begoun, renowned product reviewer, says: “It’s just a really dated formula…Product formulations have become much more sophisticated since then.  Estee Lauder itself has gone on to develop skincare that is far better that Creme de la Mer, and doesn’t cost as much…”

All the hype is good for publicity but there are NO clinical trials.  Estee Lauder has never conducted a trial for Creme de la Mer.

Is this interesting, or what??? Let me know what you think.

It’s your $745.

Think about this:  The Apothecary in our spa carries medical grade skin care products that are backed by scientific studies.  Hence, our name: Ageless Remedies SouthPark MED Spa and Laser Center, blending science and aesthetics.

Take the extra several hundred dollars and get some professional skin care,  like microdermabrasions and chemical peels, which also are PROVEN to improve your skin.

Sincerely,
Ageless Elaine

5 MYTHS ABOUT SKIN CARE — TRUE OR FALSE?

MYTH:  There is a true anti-aging cream that will keep you looking younger for years.
TRUE.  Retin A is this product.  How does it accomplish this ”miracle?”  By forcing skin cells to turn over faster.  Like when you were younger!  You know, by now, you also have to use a good sunscreen.

MYTH:  There are over a dozen FDA approved fillers on the market.  You should be able to choose which one you want.  They’re all government approved. And, it’s your skin.
FALSE:  Sorry.  Just because it’s new or relatively inexpensive or a friend loves it does not make a particular filler the best choice for you.  You have to trust the doctor.  (Hopefully it’s a doctor, and one with lots of experience.)  These days, best practice is often to combine  and even layer fillers to get the best results at the best price.  You don’t have that kind of knowledge.  Some are thicker and stay put, some are more liquid and are better for larger areas, and some cost more because they last longer.

MYTH:  There is a proven way to permanently reduce cellulite.
FALSE:  I wish.  All methods are, at best, temporary.  Cellulite is a byproduct of hormones which govern the distribution of fat storage.  Most women have some cellulite, no matter how thin they may be.

MYTH:  Botox and Fillers equal a surgical face lift.
TRUE and FALSE.  Botox smoothes the forehead and lifts and shapes the brows when performed by a skilled physician.  Fillers plump the lips and cheeks and soften nasolabial folds.  I’m still hanging in there at 63 and I think it’s a really natural look.  But beyond a certain age, only surgery will really get you results.  I love the non-surgical approach because a)  There is no down-time and b) I hate even the thought of surgery.

MYTH:  Botox is Botox.  You can get it for $100 at a hair salon or at a home “Botox Party.”
FALSE:  Reality:  You get what you pay for.  You should ask yourself, “Why is it so inexpensive?”
           It may be diluted.
It may not even be real Botox.
The practioner is not properly trained and experienced
The “practitioner” is just practicing.  OMG.  We actually had an esthetician come to us after just such a disaster.  She should have known better.

You’re welcome.

Sincerely,
Ageless Elaine
