Elaine’s Secret Make-up Trick

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

If you’re under 40, this isn’t for you.  Nothing personal.
I’m just on a mission to persuade those of you who are past 40 to try something new.

And, you know, if you still have gorgeous, radiant, glowing skin, don’t bother to read this.

I’m talking to most everyone else.
Ladies, you’ve got to go for the big picture, the general impression people get when they look at you.  You want to look healthy, glowing, and radiant, right?

Here’s the thing:  When we began learning about make-up, “they” made a big deal about how to make the most of our eyes.  It was all about eyes.  Make them look bigger.  Make them pop.

Well, here at Ageless Remedies SouthPark, our gloMineral make-up expert trained us when we opened.  Julie has now moved on to become the regional rep; she’s a real pro.  This is what she told me.

The best thing you can do to look your best is to emphasize your cheeks.  I know… This goes against that whole “eye” thing.  It seems counter-intuitive.  BUT…just try it.  Put on more blush.  It’s that simple.  Put twice as much blush as you usually would on only one cheek.  Do the other cheek normally.  Then step back and look.

Remember, you’re going for the total effect.  (And let’s face it — your eyes aren’t what they used to be.)

Don’t you look RADIANT, HEALTHY, AND GLOWING?

Let me know what you think!

Observing the Observer

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

I’m commenting on an article in the “Style” section of the The Charlotte Observer from Thursday, March 5.  The piece was titled “In-your-face-cheap” by Rachel Sutherland, the Style Editor.  Ms. Sutherland makes excellent points: “Cheap is the new chic. And these days, the path to budget-conscous beauty leads directly to the drugstore.”

Here, at Ageless Remedies SouthPark, of course we are strongly in favor of our “GloMineral Make-Up” but I can certainly understand about saving money.  Lipstick and eye makeup are reasonable choices.

Then, Ms. Sutherland goes on to make a fabulous point: “A good good place to start…investing more money (is) in products for your complexion.”  Other local retailers agree with her.

So do I.  The better known, expensive OTC (over-the-counter) brands  do make an attempt to protect and nurture your skin.

However, the REALLY BEST way to go is to have a professional aesthetician prescribe your skin care products, specifically for you.

In our Apothecary:

  • much of our medical-grade skin care is no more expensive than OTC department store brands
  • our products are results-oriented using the latest developments in nanotechnology
  • the ingredients that affect change, often at the cellular level, are worth investing in

Our Apothecary is where you can get expert, professional advice and the very highest level of effective lotions and potions.

Hope to see you here soon!

Do You Think Wearing Make-Up is Bad For Your Skin?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Personally (and this is my  blog, after all) I used to avoid wearing make-up unless I felt it was absolutely necessary – for social or professional reasons.  All brands seemed to make me break out.  Even the  ”hypo-allergenic” ones.

Now we have mineral make-up.  It’s a whole new world!  At Ageless Remedies we have GloMinerals, skin nurturing make-up for beauty with a higher purpose.  Mineral make-up does not contain the usual chemicals that can irritate or harm the skin. These mineral cosmetics are talc and dye free, and contain no fragrance, silicones, mica, rice powders, oils, wax and fillers.

You can, and should, feel good about looking your best.  GloMinerals products do not contain oils or talc, so you have a good reason not to worry about clogged skin pores.   They also have vitamins C,A,K, and E (cake, if you missed it).  We say you can have your cake and enjoy it, too!  Your skin is being nourished.

And green tea soothes your skin – so much so, we touch you up after peels and laser treatments.  And, naturally, there’s natural sun block.

I encourage you to check out GloMinerals at http://www.agelessremediessouthpark.com/page/190?wcommit=522 as well as http://www.glominerals.com/about.aspx

Then, sign up for our GloMineral MakeUp Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 10 – 6.  Tami Hess, make-up artist extraordinaire, will share her knowledge and expertise with you, personally, for 30 minutes.  I always learn something new!

Hope to see you there!
