Ageless Remedies Med Spa and Laser Center’s Staff Featured!

Here’s what owner Elaine Greenberg says about the staff in Skin Inc.:

Our staff is the best.

They take pride in their accomplishments and so do we, the owners…
Everybody has a stake in the overall team performance.

Every Friday morning, we have a staff meeting.
Everyone is required to attend—estheticians, physician, front desk staff,
spa manager, owner/marketing director.
The agenda may be educational, keeping us all on the cutting edge
of technological developments, or open discussions about what we can do better
as a team…

Furthermore, product reps often come (with lunch) to present a new line
or review or update us on one we already carry.
Manufacturer reps/trainers come so we are up-to-date on laser
and IPL protocols. We offer microdermabrasion, chemical peels,
fractional laser skin rejuvenations, laser vein treatment
and laser hair removal. Additionally, everyone is encouraged
to use all the products so we can experience the results first-hand.

However, the most popular(events) are the quarterly celebrations.
When we have a successful quarter, we party.
We go out and eat, drink, and have a great time!

Soooo proud and happy!
Skin Inc. magazine is the leading industry publication for day spa,

Some Misconceptions On Laser Hair Removal Explained

By Malcolm Kesey

A lot of women have already tried and are happy with the results
from going through laser hair removal for the problem of unwanted hair.
Despite numerous testimonials attesting to its safety and effectiveness,
there are still others that have some reservations with trying out this method.
The main reason for being hesitant to try out this method of hair removal is due to the misconceptions that these women have
about the laser treatment.
The common misconception that it may cause dry skin is just
the tip of the iceberg when it comes to myths about removing hair through lasers.

Fear of Scarring

One of these is the misconception that lasers will cause scarring
and other skin discolorations. Actually, what causes scarring
are other electric means of removing hair where a needle is being used
such as in electrolysis. Since lasers do not use needles,
the risk of experiencing some scarring is very minimal.
Actually in cases where scarring happens, it is almost always the case
that improper training or use of the laser equipment is the cause,
which means that you should be extra careful
in choosing the clinic were you will avail of this service.

People of Color

While there is some truth that it is more difficult to remove hair
via laser on those who have light hair or dark skin,
this does not mean that it is impossible. The misconception
that it cannot be done on people with these hair color and skin type
probably rose from articles saying that lasers are best on dark hair
and fair skin. It may be more difficult and may require a lot more skill
from the dermatologist but it is indeed possible
to remove unwanted hair through lasers from those
who have light-colored hair or dark-colored skin.

Expense

The misconception that laser treatment for hair removal
is very expensive. It is true that a series of sessions
will require a significant sum.
However, the total cost of these sessions will definitely pale
in comparison when placed side by side with the total expenses
accumulated over a lifetime of going to salons and spas
for waxing sessions, and buying shaving creams, gels, and shavers
every so often. In contrast, what you spend on the laser treatment
have more value for your money because its effect is longer lasting
and may even be permanent.

Pain

While others are concerned with the cost,
what some women cannot stand is the idea that laser hair removal
may be painful. This is also another misconception,
at least with the level of pain that one is expecting.
The laser treatment can indeed produce a stinging sensation
but this is very bearable. A few hours or even minutes
after the treatment, the slightly painful sensation
will gradually subside and eventually disappear.

Where Do You Draw the Line?

Are you conflicted about having “stuff done?”

Med spas exist to help you look your best.
Do you color your hair?
Wear make-up?
I think it’s just human to be concerned about our appearance.
It’s also human to appreciate beauty.

Dr. Mark Berman says: In almost everything we perceive and enjoy,
beauty is a virtue…(It) pleases us to look at physically
attractive things.
And that is the virtue of beauty:
It makes us happy.
We don’t condemn people for taking care of their health or
their bodies…And far from condemning the ‘vanity’ of fashion,
we glorify it.

Right on, doc!

Am I vain?
Isn’t it okay to want to be happy?
And looking my best makes me happy.
How about you?

What do you think?

Facials are okay — Expensive skin care products cross the line?
Chemical peels are fine – Botox crosses the line?
Laser hair removal is great — Laser facial treatments cross the line?

Where do you draw the line?
And why?
