Do Looks Matter? YES!!!

Pam Belluck, a Sunday New York Times writer, addressed the Susan Boyle phenomenon yesterday.

Ms. Belluck says:  “… the dowdy Scottish spinster…frumpy 47-year-old” has become an example of “just how shallow we’ve become…how we fall victim to the prejudices of ageism or look-ism.”

But she then writes, “there are reasons we quickly size people up based on how they look” and explains that social scientists think this characteristic may have been important in human evolution.

Attractive, young people experience easy acceptance in social and professional situations. 

Yes, looks matter.
